    Maybe not as expensive as they first appear. I had a problem with the old printhead being blocked as I had used an older black cartridge (Note to self – do not stock up on ink cartridges, without a proper rotation in the stationery cupboard otherwise you end up with ink cartridges way past their used by / expired date). My printer had complained a few times that the ink cartridge was beyond its expired date, but I just thought it was standard HP get more money tricks.     Always Buy The HP 940XL’s Never The Starter HP 940 Cartridges…..Low Yield!! These printheads seem quite pricey but firstly you save a lot on the cost of the ink cartridges themselves as you aren’t paying for a printhead that you throw away every time you change a cartridge and secondly the printhead contains quite a lot (undefined) of ink. The bad news is that when you have to change a faulty printhead you get to throw away quite a lot of ink.This is the first time I’ve had to buy a replacement printhead – because of a persistent line across all my graphics that…

    When Hp sell you a new printer (Officejet 8500) they only give you starter cartridges with it which hold a very small amount of ink in them Hp 940 black and the Hp 940 colour cartridges c/m/y (STARTER CARTRIDGES). I was using about 3 black and 2 each of the colours cartridge per month and it was costing me a small forturne. I later found out that Hp do a higher yield versions of the 940 cartridges which cost only a few pounds more but hold far more ink in them than the starter cartridges which…
